Morgan Plumbing & Heating Ltd specialises in responding to both emergencies and maintenance problems where a fast and efficient response is needed. To help avoid emergencies in the first place here are a few of our tips and points of advice;
Ensure that you know the location of the stop valve on the incoming water supply and check that it works
Stop valves will corrode and sieze if unused – check them and turn the handle every 3 months
If the stop valve is inaccessible or difficult to operate Morgan Plumbing & Heating Ltd can assist in the installation of a Sure Stop remote water switch. These products use servo valve technology to enable the incoming mains supply to be remotely turned on and off at the flick of a switch. No electricity is required.
Do not let dripping taps and dripping overflows from faulty float valves in WC’s or water storage cisterns go unchecked. Your plumbing system requires maintenance and if on a water meter, your bills will escalate.
In cold weather, take measures to prevent water in pipes from becoming frozen;
Ensure that all exposed pipes and storage cisterns are properly insulated, especially those in the loft region.
Ensure that outside taps are isolated and drained.
To assist in maintenance work it is always good practice to have isolation valves fitted on the pipework – this is a very quick and easy process.
